HOW TO BE THE HOMEMADE HAIR MASK QUEEN?

2015/01/27

Me & my hair few years ago

Hello ladies. I know most of you read my blog because of my tips about hair. And today you are lucky. This post is going to make you the Steve Jobs, the Einstein of natural homemade hairmasks. Probably you ask youself how am I going to do that? It's pretty simple. All you need to know is the products and how they can benefit your hair. Carry on reading and find out all of the secrets.

*FOR ALL HAIR TYPES

Egg
The yolk, rich in fats and proteins, is naturally moisturizing, while the white, which contains bacteria-eating enzymes, removes unwanted oils.
To Use: For normal hair, use the entire egg to condition hair; use egg whites only to treat oily hair; use egg yolks only to moisturize dry, brittle hair, Cox says. Use 1/2 cup of whichever egg mixture is appropriate for you and apply to clean, damp hair. If there isn’t enough egg to coat scalp and hair, use more as needed. Leave on for 20 minutes, rinse with cool water (to prevent egg from “cooking”) and shampoo hair. Whole egg and yolks-only treatments can be applied once a month; whites-only treatment can be applied every two weeks.

*FOR DULL HAIR

Yogurt/Sour cream
Styling products (as well as air pollution) can leave a film that both saps moisture and dulls shine—but dairy products like sour cream and plain yogurt can help reverse this damage. Lactic acid gently strips away dirt while the milk fat moisturizes.
To Use: Massage 1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt into damp hair and let sit for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water, followed by cool water, then shampoo hair as you normally would. Treatment can be applied every other week.

*FOR ITCHY SCALP

Lemon
To fight flakes—brought on by poor diet, stress and climate, among other factors—try a lemon juice  in your hair. The acidity in lemon juice helps rid your scalp of any loose, dry flakes of skin.
To Use: Mix 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice, 2 Tbsp olive oil and 2 Tbsp water, and massage into damp scalp. Let mixture sit for 20 minutes, then rinse and shampoo hair. Treatment can be applied every other week. !!!Don't over proportionate the lemon juice. It may give you a burning sensation on your scalp and dry them out.

Olive oil
This oil is the cure for anything. It moistutizes the skin on your head, helps to fight against hairloss, makes your hair grow faster, makes them shinier, stronger and etc.
To Use: it is used as a "base" for most of the diy hair masks.

Apple cider vinegar
For eliminating any excess oils and grease in scalp and hair lengths as well as helping clear away irritating itchy dandruff.
To Use: Can be used alone, just massage it into your hair scalp and hold it for half and hour or longer. Can also be mixed with various products.

*FOR LIMP OR FINE HAIR

Beer
To add body to hair, reach for an unlikely beauty beverage: beer! The fermented drink contains generous supplies of yeast, which works to plump tired tresses.
To Use: Mix 1/2 cup flat beer (pour beer into a container and let it sit out for a couple of hours to deplete carbonation) with 1 tsp light oil (sunflower or canola) and a raw egg. Apply to clean, damp hair, let sit for 15 minutes, then rinse with cool water. Or add flat beer only to a spray bottle and spritz onto dry hair. When the liquid evaporates, the remaining protein residue (from the wheat, malt or hops) continues to strengthen and structure hair. Treatments can be applied every other week.

*FOR DRY OR SUN-DAMAGED HAIR

Honey
Whatever your hair-dehydrating demon—hard water, sun overexposure, your trusty flat iron—nature's sweetener can help. Honey is a natural humectant, which means it attracts and locks in moisture.
To Use: Massage approximately 1/2 cup honey into clean, damp hair, let sit for 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water. You can also add 1 to 2 Tbsp olive oil to loosen the honey for easier application. For extremely sun-damaged hair, trying mixing honey with 1 to 2 Tbsp of a protein-rich ingredient, like avocado or egg yolk, which will help replenish the keratin protein bonds that UV rays attack. Treatment can be applied once a month.

Milk
Gives hair the soft feel, moisturizes them.
To Use: Mixed in with other ingredients, such as avocado, honey and etc.

Coconut oil
An excellent conditioner, making hair feel soft and lustrous.
To Use:  Can be used on it's own for whole hair, especially ends of the hair. Also can be mixen in with other moisturizing producs.

Banana
This fruit is rich in vitamins and oils, especially good for improving hair elasticity, therefore preventing split ends and breakage, and also good for dandruff.
To Use: Mash about half a banana, use on its own or with other ingredients. Freezing and thawing the banana before use can help to reduce lumps, which are difficult to wash out of hair.

Gelatin
If allowed to set on hair, unflavored gelatin can provide a protective protein coating to the hair.
To Use: Combine with water, vinegar, and a humectant, and deep condition afterwards for best results.

Argan oil
This oil has the capacity to easily penetrate the hair fiber and deeply nourish it, making it silky and healthy looking.  If regularly used, hair becomes more elastic, controllable and easier to comb.
To Use: Pour several drops of oil into the palm of your hands and rub them together to warm the oil (it works best when warmed up). Massage gently into your scalp and take care to cover your hair from roots to tips. Cover your head with a plastic wrap, leave it on for at least 1 hour, than wash it. For greater effects, you can also leave it on overnight.

*FOR OILY OR GREASY HAIR

Cornmeal or cornstarch
Used properly, cornmeal or cornstarch is an inexpensive way to remove oil and grease.
To Use: Pour 1 Tbsp cornmeal or cornstarch into an empty salt or pepper shaker and sprinkle onto dry hair and scalp until you’ve used it all. After 10 minutes, use a paddle hairbrush to completely brush it out. Treatment can be applied every other day.

Strawberries
Strawberries are good at regulating oil production in the scalp and rinsing off any oil from your hair, plus they are packed full of vitamin C, which is essential for hair health.
To Use: Mash a few up and apply to hair either alone or with other ingredients of your choice. You may choose to mix with a lightly moisturizing ingredient such as mayonnaise to prevent over-drying. Leave on for just 10 minutes.

Epsom salt
This salt will help de-grease your hair by eliminating excess oil from your hair. Yes, this means, your hair will look fuller when you wash off! Besides, the minerals in Epsom salt will strengthen and repair your hair, in particular, the strands damaged due to heat styling.
To Use: you can add it into any hair mask or shampoo/conditioner.

*FOR FRIZZY HAIR

Avocado
Home beauty experts swear by avocado—and not just to repair damaged hair. It's oils (which are light and moist like our own natural skin secretions) and proteins boast the best combination of nutrients for smoothing and weighing down unruly hair.
To Use: Mash up half an avocado and massage into clean, damp hair. Let sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with water. Boost up moisturizing power by combining mashed avocado with 1 to 2 Tbsp of a hydrating ingredient, like sour cream, egg yolks or mayonnaise. Treatment can be applied every two weeks.

Almond oil
Many hair care products will add almond oil because of the nourishing and smoothing benefits it provides the hair cuticles, allowing people to grow thick, long, strong hair. It can be used to make your hair shinier. It can be used to make your hair shinier. You can also mix almond oil with tea tree or neem oil and massage it into the scalp to increase circulation and relieve dandruff. Regularly massaging a combination of almond, rosemary and lavender oil in the hair can help reduce the amount of hair that falls out each day.
To Use:  Massage the oil into your scalp for 15-20 minutes, then massage a bit into the hair. Hold it for 50 minutes or longer(best overnight) and carefully rinse it out.

*FOR RESIDUE-RIDDEN HAIR

Baking soda
Nothing eats through product buildup like baking soda. Sodium bicarbonate essentially breaks down anything acidic.
To Use: Mix 1 to 2 Tbsp baking soda with small amounts of water until a thick paste forms. Massage into damp hair and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse with water, then shampoo hair. Treatment can be applied every two weeks.

*FOR HAIRLOSS

Cinnamon
Cinnamon powder will help you to reduce hairloss and make their roots stronger.
To Use: mix it in with egg mask.

*FOR HAIRGROWTH

Castor oil
This oil does the ah-ma-zing work on hair. It enhances the growth and strenghtens them.
To Use: never use it on it's own when using it for head hair. It comes out really hard. Mix it into other products, such as egg, avocado and such. It is pretty stiff, weights down the hair, so if you have oily hair, make sure you rinse minimum twice.
